In support and recognition of its mission to promote sustainable practices, HomeFashion magazine has become a Corporate Member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC).
The Sustainable Furnishings Council is a non-profit balanced coalition of industry players founded at High Point, North Carolina, in October 2006 to promote sustainable practices among manufacturers, retailers and consumers. The SFC recognizes the overwhelming scientific consensus that our world is experiencing dangerous global climate change. SFC members acknowledge the tremendous urgency, and take immediate steps to minimize carbon emissions, waste stream pollutants, un-recyclable content and primary materials from unsustainable sources from any product platform under their control.
HomeFashion greatly anticipates working with the SFC and members of the Council in promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship.

AmericasMart's Building 1 Home product resources continue to grow with the addition of nine new exhibitors opening showrooms on Floors 11, 12 and 13 during the July 8-15 Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. The exhibitors marking their AmericasMart permanent showroom debut include:

Ethan Allen To Open Vegas Design Center
Ethan Allen will open an Ethan Allen Design Center at Las Vegas Design Center during the September 14-17 Las Vegas Market. Located in Building C-196, Ethan Allen's 10,000-square-foot company-owned Design Center will attract prospective worldwide licensees during the biannual Las Vegas Market while catering to designers and consumers visiting Las Vegas Design Center throughout the year.
In addition to Las Vegas and other domestic markets, Ethan Allen is opening Design Centers in Amman Jordan, Dubai UAE, and China this year.
Maison & Objet Coming In September
Maison & Objet returns to Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre in France September 4-8 with 7 divisions exploring the world of style and decor. New in September is Spa & Scents Interiors, an addition to the home accessories divisions. Spa & Scents Interiors showcases the awakening of the senses within the home with a selection of fabric accessories (bathrobes, sauna towels, indoor wear and pillows), cosmetic accessories (massage oils, soaps and lotions), small furniture pieces and lighting.

AmericasMart's Area Rug Product Center Expands For 2010
AmericasMart's Area Rug product center has already set its sights on 2010 with Dalyn Rug Company's commitment to increase its showroom in January 2010. Dalyn (6-C-5,7,9,11) will double the size of its current space - from 3,000 to 6,000 square feet - set to open for the January 2010 Atlanta International Area Rug Market.
Along with its upgraded showroom, Dalyn, who manufactures decorative rugs in traditional and modern styles, will also introduce a new line of rugs - Made in America - to the industry in January. Dalyn will offer buyers a sneak peek of its new space during the upcoming July 12-15 Area Rug Market. The company will display product vignettes that will show buyers what's to come next year.
Las Vegas Readies Business Survival Series
World Market Center Las Vegas has announced the lineup for its Business Survival Series, to be held during the inaugural Fall Las Vegas Market, September 14-17.
Headlining the Business Survival Series will be business leader Howard Putnam, who will offer practical and simple steps to reach business goals Tuesday, September 15, at 12 noon in Building C-469. A suggested $10 donation at the door will go to the City of Hope. Also participating in the series will be Bill Child and Jeff Benedict. Benedict, in conversation with Child, will explore R.C. Wiley Furnishings Company's unique business approach which allowed it to grow from a small storefront into a multi-million-dollar company. First Look: Foreign Accents' Michael Payne Collection
Earlier this month, Foreign Accents announced a collaboration with Michael Payne, renowned designer and original host of HGTV's "Designing For The Sexes," to introduce the Michael Payne Collection of hand-tufted area rugs. The designs will be showcased this fall at the Las Vegas and High Point Markets.
However, Foreign Accents has provided an exclusive preview of the new collection. Buyers can look forward to "Chain Mail and "LA Freeways," two exclusive designs from The Michael Payne Collection, which is hand-tufted with Foreign Accents' Favriel yarns. The rugs are available in custom sizes up to 12' wide.

L'Objet Opens New Showroom
Tabletop, gift and home design company L'Objet will open its first-ever corporate showroom July 15, on the 16th floor of 41 Madison Avenue in New York. The new showroom will be open year-round.
Concurrent with the new showroom, L'Objet has named Carole Boucher as Sales Director/Northeast who comes to L'Objet from Jay Strongwater, the renowned designer of luxury gifts. L'Objet has also tapped one-half of its pubic relations firm, Laura Simms of Van Maanen-Simms Public Relations, for the newly created position of Communications Director/Special Markets. Additionally, L'Objet has promoted Paula Finkle to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Finkle joined L'Objet in January 2007, following eight years with Atlanta-based manufacturers' representative Rosse and Associates.

Root Candles Introduces "Legacy by Root"

Jensen Leisure Opens Chicago Showroom
Jensen, a manufacturer of fine leisure furniture, is opening a showroom on the 17th floor, Suite 1771, of Chicago's Merchandise Mart. The new showroom will open in July for the Official ICFA Pre Market, July 8-10. The showroom will also launch the new Jensen line of Ipé (EE-pay) wood garden furniture, representing the only FSC-certified Ipé furniture currently available in the U.S. market.
Jensen also will also participate in the International Casual Furniture & Accessories Market, September 21-24.
Wholesale Interiors Makes Show Debut
Wholesale Interiors, a manufacturer and distributor of bedroom, dining room, accents and office casegoods, as well as fabric and leather-upholstered seating, will showcase a collection of its best-sellers and newest designs at the upcoming Midwest Furniture Show, July 29-30 outside Chicago. This will be the first time Wholesale Interiors presents its line at a trade show; the company will exhibit in space 42 at the Schaumburg Renaissance.
Additionally, the company has hired Craig Ruse, a 20-year veteran of the home furnishings industry, as its sales representative for Illinois. Ruse was previously Midwest sales manager for leather importer Simon Li/Trayton Industries, and held a similar position with Natuzzi for nearly two decades.

The New California Gift Show Prepares Debut
This summer, the newly integrated California Gift Show is poised to become the largest gift and home furnishings resource on the West Coast with nearly 300 permanent year-round showrooms at the L.A. Mart and a combined temporary exhibitor roster of more than 1,000 resources at both the Los Angeles Convention Center and L.A. Mart. The show takes place July 14-20.

ACRE Announces 2010 Show Dates
In response to a series of surveys, ACRE (American Craft Retailers Expo) has changed its 2010 show dates to June 5-7, 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, running concurrently with the JCK jewelry show and other gem and jewelry shows.
